Kooter Brown’s Walk/Run Club

Monday nights on the sidewalks in Jay you may see walkers and runners in lime green shirts.  They are members of the Kooter Brown Walk/Run Club.  The club was founded  in August 2008 and has close to 75 members. The Club walks/runs 3.1 miles ever Monday.  Walkers start at 5:45 and Runners at 6 pm.  The course begins and ends at Kooter Browns Sports Grill.  Runners get 10% off on their food and drink on Monday nights at Kooter Browns.  After 10 walks/runs, you receive a Kooter Brown’s T-shirt.

The Club averages 10 walkers/runners each week.  The Kooter Brown walkers/runners participate in many of the local events as well  including  the Fiesta, Pensacola Seafood Festival, Riverwalk 5K, Garcon Point Bridge Run, and are planning on New Orleans Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon in March.

The top three runner/walkers have logged over 300 miles since the club began: Shirley Raney, Beth Anne Whitfield and Roger Watson; three with over 200 miles: Donna Settle, Janette Bell and Lori Brabham; many more have hit over the 100 mile mark.

This is the perfect time of year to start your exercise regime.  It’s not too hot and it’s still light at 6pm.  The club is open and always looking for new members.  All levels of walkers/runners are welcome.  The Club was not founded so walkers/runners would compete against each other.  Rather, it’s so the members walk/run together sharing a healthy lifestyle in fellowship.   Come join the group.
