Fun and Sun Student Art Contest
First Lady Ann Scott Announces Florida Fun and Sun Student Art Contest
In partnership with the nonprofit Volunteer USA Foundation, Mrs. Scott is looking for vibrant artwork inspired by students’ favorite Florida places, outdoor activities, foods, summer vacations and state symbols.
“With the start of the new school year, I encourage all Florida students to show me how much you love the fun and sun in Florida,” First Lady Ann Scott said. “Create a picture of your favorite summer activity, your special spot on the beach, or your family vacation. I can’t wait to see your amazing art.”
Approximately 30 winners will be selected and notified the week of October 24, 2011. One grand prize winner will be selected from the 30 winners, and First Lady Ann Scott will visit the winning student’s school. Entries must be post-marked by October 11, 2011 and mailed to Volunteer USA Foundation – Florida Fun and Sun Student Art Contest, 516 N. Adams Street, Tallahassee, FL 32301.
Select artwork may be featured on display at the Florida Governor’s Mansion and in a variety of First Lady projects including her upcoming Love.Read.Learn!™ baby journal. The First Lady’s keepsake baby journal, created in partnership with Volunteer USA, will promote the importance of families sharing time reading, learning and enjoying a healthy lifestyle together. It will be offered, at no cost, to parents of newborns at Florida hospitals and birthing centers after the New Year.
