Lance Cpl. Travis Michael Nelson
Lance Cpl. Travis Michael Nelson, 19, died Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Afghanistan.
Mr. Nelson was native of Orlando, a former resident of Pace for five years and a resident of Bratt, Fla., for the past 8 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a member of the Young Marines of Pensacola for four years, a member of the Pace High School N.J.ROTC and the Baptist church.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 26 at First Baptist Church of Atmore with Chaplain Lt. Commander Jeffrey Bornemann and the Rev. George Weaver officiating with full military honors. Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m., Aug. 26, until funeral time at First Baptist Church of Atmore. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his parents, Scott and Beckie Sanspree Nelson of Bratt; his fiancée Madeline Cates of Pace, Fla.; brother, Daniel (Melissa) Nelson of Century; half-brother, Chandler Case of Daphne, Ala.; two sisters, Anna Nelson of Bratt and Jenna Nelson of Brewton; his grandmothers, Ann Sanspree of Atmore and Louise Nelson of Brewton.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his grandparents, Morris W. Nelson of Brewton; Daniel Sanspree of Atmore and his great-grandmother, Gladys Brunson of Century.
