Explosive Ordinance Disposal Senior Chief, United States Navy

Senior Chief Vickers, 36, was a native of Kokomo, Hawaii.  He enlisted in the United States Navy in November, 1996.

He graduated from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in January, 1997.  Senior Chief Vickers completed Explosive Ordinance training, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, September, 1998.  He served in Explosive Ordinance Disposal Mobile Unit 5, Agana, Guam from November, 1998 to July, 2001.  He then served in Naval Expeditionary Combat Force Command, Bahrain from August, 2001 to August, 2002.  Senior Chief Vickers than served in Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit 3, Barbers Point, Hawaii from August, 2002 to February, 2005.  He served in an East Coast based Special Warfare Unit from February, 2005 to August, 2011.

Senior Chief Vickers’ awards include the Bronze Star Medal with ‘V’ for valor (3), Purple Heart, Joint Service Commendation Medal with Combat ‘V’, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), Combat Action Ribbon (2), Presidential Unit Citation (3), Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Good Conduct Medal (4), Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal,  Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Navy Expert Rifleman Medal, and Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal.  He was also qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.
