Marianna, FL. – Jay Football Player attacked at camp on Thursday morning July 28. The football camp was located at Blue Springs Baptist Conference Center in Marianna, Florida. The camp is designed for teams with males ages 13-18. The camp was a 2 day camp beginning on July 27, 2011. Three black males pushed into the room of two JHS players around 1 am and started hitting. One Jay student received a concussion, and severe bruising, the second occupant of the room received a blow to the head. After the attack the students from Taylor County High School were escorted to the chapel. Kent Smith, Head Coach of the Jay Royals, decided to load up his players and return home immediately. The injured student was taken to a local hospital, treated and released. Charges are expected to be filed after the investigation and identification of the assailants.

The police were called to the hospital because the victim was a minor and had been assaulted.  The identities of the three football players from Jackson County High involved in the attack were later discoved by either confession or identification by their own teammates and have been removed from the team this year.  It is unknown if at this time the state will pursue charges against the juveniles involved.
