Lady Royals Win District!

The Jay Lady Royals (22-4) defeated the Laurel Hill Hoboes (21-6) 45-33 at Northview on Friday night to win their 4th district championship in a row. Jay leaned heavy on their junior Aubreigh Nelson, who led the Royals with 18 points on the night. Jay also had to lean on their defense to keep Laurel Hill’s 6′ plus center (Dixon) in check. They did so with a steady balance of both Locklin sisters (junior Hattie and sophomore Lucy). Between the steady rotation of the Locklin duo, Dixon was held to 11 points.

Going into the second quarter trailing by one, Jay finished the second half on a run to take a six point lead into the half and never trailed again.

Seven Royals in all scored on the night, including Presley Hawthorne’s 8, hitting two threes. Senior Georgia Lewis added 6 in the team effort to secure the win.
