Royals Advance

Both the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams for Jay advanced in their respective district tournaments.

The Jay boys (9-13) defeated Laurel Hill on Tuesday night 61-52 to advance to the semi-finals to face Paxton (21-4). While Paxton has topped the Royals twice this year, both contests were close. Tipoff is 7pm on Thursday.

The Lady Royals (21-4) beat rival Baker on Wednesday to advance to the championship game, 54-21. Jay’s defense smothered the Gators from the start as this one was never in question. Only allowing 7 first half points, the Lady Royals exploded from the tip with 30 in the first two quarters.
Aubreigh Nelson led the way with 15 points while Olivia Atkinson added 12 of her own.

With the win, Jay secured their spot in the district championship game on Friday.
