2025 Outstanding Farm Family
Preston Blackmon, a farmer in Santa Rosa
County, has been a lifelong resident of Jay,
Florida. Preston took an interest in farming from a very young age. As a young boy, he dreamed of becoming a farmer, and the Good Lord made it happen for him. As a teenager, he scouted crops, gaining lots of knowledge about peanuts and cotton. Preston started his farming operation in 1988 with only a few fields and one tractor, and he has never looked back. Along the way, he met his wife Kathy in 1992, and they were married in 1994. Preston and his wife, Kathy, had two kids. Their daughter Dana is married to Justin Godwin, with two children of their own, Hunter and Sawyer, two of Preston and Kathy’s greatest blessings. Their son Jamie works in the banking industry. Today, Preston and his wife, Kathy, along with their son-in-law Justin and daughter Dana, farm approximately 2,450 acres consisting of peanuts, cotton, and corn. Justin and Dana also raise cattle. Preston and Kathy are incredibly blessed to work alongside
their family every day on the farm. Their son-in-law, Justin, and daughter, Dana, will one day assume responsibility for the operations of the farm, and we pray the Good Lord will bless them the same way we have been blessed.
