Don’t Count Royals Out Just Yet

After holding on for a 13-6 win over South Choctaw Academy last Friday night, the Jay Royals evened up their record for the 2025 season to 4-4. After starting out 1-4 and facing a few suspensions and injuries to key players, a lesser team might have been content to lay down for the rest of the season; but not this team. After losing a close home game to rival Flomaton, the fourth loss in a row, Jay has rattled off three wins in a row including a road trip win over rival Northview and the 13-6 win over a very capable (4-3 at the time) South Choctaw Academy last week.
The remaining schedule looks manageable; the Royals make the long trip to Wewa (2-4) this week and then host Uriah (7-1) for homecoming. Finishing at worst 5-5 after starting out the year 1-4 would be a respectful end to the 2025 season, but if the Royals keep the momentum going, a 6-4 season is possible and a playoff birth doable.
