Report Shows Tax Value Found in Santa Rosa

According to an October 2011 Florida TaxWatch Report, “How Florida Counties Compare,” Santa Rosa County ranks 61st out of 67 Florida counties in terms of total county and city taxes per capita, with 67 being the least taxed in the state. The state average, $1,014 per capita, is more than double Santa Rosa ’s $407 per capita tax burden.

“This bears out Santa Rosa County government’s goal to operate as efficiently as possible,” commented Santa Rosa County Commission Chair Lane Lynchard. “We have fewer employees at the county level now than we did back in 2001. This is a significant accomplishment considering our population grew 29 percent in the last decade.”

The full report can be found at www.floridataxwatch.org along with an interactive website which offers report data by specific county at www.floridataxwatch.org/HowCountiesCompares/# .   Florida TaxWatch is a private, non-profit, non-partisan research institute whose mission is to provide the citizens of Florida and public officials with high quality, independent research and education on government revenues, expenditures, taxation, public policies and programs and to increase the productivity and accountability of Florida government.
