Chiefs too much for Royals
Jay-The Royals hosted rival Chiefs and had their hands full all night long. Northview’s running back Demarcus Jefferson had a whale of a night, racking up over 150 yards and four touchdowns.
Jay went three and out on their first offensive drive and had to punt it to the Chiefs. On Northview’s 3rd play of the game, running back Jefferson would break a 20 yard run, but then fumbled. The ball was then picked up by an offensive linemen for the Chiefs and advanced 15 additional yards. This would be a sign of what kind of night it would be for Jay. Northview would score two plays later.
Jay went 3 and out on their 2nd drive. Northview’s Demarcus Jefferson scored on their 2nd drive on a 2 yard run. Jay’s third drive would lead to points for the Royals as Jay’s quarterback Hayden Morris would connect with TE Tomas Ravendo for a 31 yard touchdown pass.
Jay’s defense would then force a punt from Northview and Jay’s 4th drive started out very promising, but at Northview’s 32 yard line on 4th and 9, the Royals threw an interception from running back Brock Stout on a halfback pass on the goal line and was returned 75 yards. Northview would score 1 play later, making the score 21-7 at halftime.
Northview scored on their first drive of the 2nd half,capping off a quick 1:13 drive with a 45 yard pass for touchdown. Jay would fumble on the 3rd play of their first second half drive. Northview would score again with 8:10 left in the third.
On Jay’s 2nd drive of the half, facing a 4th and 9, Jay attempted a fake punt but was unsuccessful. Northview would then score on a short field 30 seconds later. Jay would then fumble and turn the ball over again. The Chiefs would score another touchdown off the Royals fumble, brining the score 49-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Jay would add a touchdown with 6:27 left in the fourth quarter when Hayden Morris connected with Tomas Ravendo for the 2nd time for a 40 yard touchdown pass. The extra point was blocked.
Hayden Morris would finish the night with 83 yards passing, completing 4 of 6 pass attempts and two touchdowns.
Landyn Cooley would be the leading rusher for Jay. He rushed for 56 yards on 19 carries.
